Kellenberger timepiece collection
Since 1999, the precious collection has been housed in the Gewerbemuseum, the museum of trades. The new exhibition takes the visitor on a journey through time: It leads past early instruments for observing the sky, past sundials, hourglasses and wheel watches all the way to synchronized chronometers. Highlights of the collection are the famous steel console clocks of the Winterthur watchmakers Liechti from the 16th and 17th centuries and a significant collection of Swiss wooden wheel clocks dating back to the 18th century. The transformation of the manufacturing process as a result of the industrial revolution is also illustrated.
