Traffic information for persons living in the town and region of Zürich
General recommendations
- Do not use private motorised transport
- Use the public transport services (including the ZVV night services)
- Travel by bicycle, or walk
- Deliveries, transports and commercial traffic in central Zürich should cease by 11 a.m.
- Follow the "Umleitung Innenstadt" signs to bypass the town centre
- Transit traffic: bypass the town on the outer periphery (also use the expanded ferry service Meilen – Horgen; capacities are limited)

Traffic stoppages downtown
During the period of 7- 29 June (except for days without matches on 23, 24, 27 and 28 June) and in particular in the areas of Bellevue, Quaibrücke and Limmatquai, all traffic is barred as of 2 p.m. daily (7- 17 June) and as of 5 p.m. daily (from 18 June). Pertinent information regarding the traffic concept is available at the Traffic Services Department of the City of Zürich.
Streets free of road works
In order to facilitate maximally efficient traffic flow during EURO 2008, the most important streets within the City of Zürich have been declared free of road works! An overview can be found at the Traffic Services Department of the City of Zürich.
Directions for use: Please choose “EURO 2008” from the menu on the left and then refresh the city map. All streets marked in blue will be free of road works during EURO 2008.

No-traffic zone around Letzigrund stadium
- The area will be closed for traffic on match days only (9, 13 und 17 June) from 11 a.m. till midnight
- Access after 11 a.m. for cars, vans, lorries and motorbikes only for residents with special permit, tradespersons (staff) with special permit, disabled persons, public services, emergency services, EURO vehicles
- No permit required to exit the no-traffic zone. Cyclists, persons with a walking disability holding a parking permit and taxis do not require a special permit!
- No transit through the no-traffic zone
- Public transport: normal services; Letzigrund stop relocated (to off Norastrasse)
- Non-motorised traffic (cyclists, pedestrians): no restrictions except directly around the stadium. Alternative routes signposted. Additional bicycle parks at the stadium.

Recommendations for the no-traffic zone
- If at all possible, deliveries should be made before 11 a.m.
- Badenerstrasse partially closed
- If at all possible, all motorised traffic should cease in the no-traffic zone from 3 hours before kick-off till 1 hour after the final whistle

Public Viewing und Fan Zone along the lake and at Limmatquai
- Temporary traffic limitations (times and dates to follow)
- Bypass routes signalled
- Delivery services will be impeded
- No public parking places!
- Traffic congestion is expected
- Left/right lakesides are connected by the Meilen – Horgen ferry
- Public transport: basically normal services; Limmatquai closed for public transport from approximately 4 p.m.; temporary restrictions at Bellevue/Stadelhofen
- Non-motorised traffic (cyclists, pedestrians): smooth progress except in the Public Viewing area. Bypass routes are signposted. Additional cycle parks provided, some with security
