LIVING ZÜRICH MEDIA AWARD

The City of Zürich and Zürich Tourism created the LIVING ZÜRICH MEDIA AWARD. Its purpose was to motivate the media to deal with the topic of “We live Zürich” and hence with Zürich’s life principle and to come up with a creative answer to the question of “When will you live Zürich?”
The invitation to submit articles was made in August 2007 and the articles had to be published between January 1, 2007 and February 29, 2008. The final entry date was March 4, 2008.

The Winners
The article “Out of the blue”, published in American Way Magazine on April 1, 2007, caused a sensation in the Musiksaal of the City Hall on the evening of May 13. It was written by Gregory Katz. “The publication encapsulates Zürich’s life principle: original, surprising and pertinent”, according to the chairman of the jury, Claudius Seidl. The 55-year old Gregory Katz was extremely pleased to receive the LIVING ZÜRICH MEDIA AWARD and the check for EUR 20,000.
The correspondent for Le Temps, Anne Fournier, who lives in Zürich, received the LIVING ZÜRICH MEDIA AWARD with a check for EUR 3,000. She was awarded second prize with her article “Zürich, paradis et souk haut de gamme de l'art contemporain”, which was published in Le Temps on November 7, 2007. In her text she focuses on Zürich’s art scene, ranging from galleries to the international importance of Zürich as a city of the arts, including contemporary art from the Zürich region.
The final LIVING ZÜRICH MEDIA AWARD, also with a prize of EUR 3,000, was awarded to Elvira D'Ippoliti. The Italian from Rome was awarded third prize with the publication of “Zurigo: La sinfonia della città”, on February 15, 2008 in Terre d'Europa. She highlights the various facets of Zürich and likens life in the city to a symphony.
